A foam cannon is a device for foaming a cleaning solution and producing thick foam in order to thoroughly clean and wash the bodywork of a car, motorcycle, trailer or the interior of a truck's cargo cabin.

Foam cannon - what is it?

A foam cannon is an accessory that converts concentrated soap into thick foam, which is applied to the surface being cleaned using pressure.

Like any device, a foam cannon also requires maintenance and, in case of wear, replacement of spare parts.

Types and construction

A foam cannon consists of several main elements, which include:

• special tank - this is a container into which you can pour, among other things, cleaning agents (e.g. shampoo) or active foam;
• nozzle assembly - the nozzle regulates the flow and amount of sprayed foam;
• pressure washer connectors - this is the part that attaches the foam cannon to the pressure washer, responsible for a steady water flow and preventing leaks;
• adjustment knobs - these are elements that affect the density of the foam. They allow control of the air-to-water ratio;

There are several types of foam cannons available on the market that differ in the method of pressure generation, including:

• manual foam cannon - pressure in the tank is generated manually using a piston located at the top;

• foam cannon for pressure washers - foam is created by the pressure of the water stream; requires connection to a gun or extension lance;

• pneumatic foam cannon - foam is created as a result of compressed air; connection to a compressor may be required;

How does the foam cannon work?

1. Prepare a mixture of soap and water in appropriate proportions

   After adding the soap to the tank, connect the device to the pressure washer lance

3. Water from the pressure washer and the soap from the container create a cleaning mixture. The resulting mixture is subjected to pressure and released through the nozzle. Use the adjustment knob to set the foam density.

4. Aim the foam cannon at the surface you want to clean and begin spraying the vehicle

When the foam cannon is connected to a pressure washer, thick foam is produced by mixing soap and water under high pressure. This allows covering the vehicle surface much more effectively and in less time than traditional methods (e.g. using a bucket of soapy water and a sponge).
