Playground surface installation guide

Here is the installation guide for playground surface:

  1. Before starting the physical placement of the overgrowth mats, secure the area to prevent access by unauthorized persons and mark the installation/construction area.
  2. Then remove external objects such as waste, metal elements, branches, and other loose items.
  3. If vegetation is present in the area, reduce its height to:
    1. For grass and grass-like plants, trim to minimal height
    2. For shrubs, permanently remove the root system
  4. For the cleaned area, it is advisable to draw a layout sketch of the overgrowth mats to reduce the number of cuts and speed up installation.
  5. After marking the installation site, check the ground leveling so that the surface is even and preferably does not exceed a slope of 5%.
  6. For soft ground, it is recommended to use a leveling mesh or perform appropriate durable hardening of the surface.
  7. On the cleaned area, start seeding the lawn.
  8. After seeding, you can begin installing overgrowth mats on the playground, starting from the longest straight edge.
  9. Connect the mats using cable ties, fastening them every 20 cm, and use two ties at each corner.
  10. Cut off protruding tie ends with shears.
  11. Along the outer edges, perform the following step to improve mat adhesion:
    1. Fold the mat edge inward by 15–20 cm, then create a sloped indentation of up to 5 cm, as shown in graphic no. 1.
    2. After proper ground preparation for the edge, attach the overgrowth mats with special pins, as shown in graphic no. 2.
  12. Then fasten the overgrowth mats to the playground surface using pins as follows:
    1. 4 pieces at the corners
    2. 1 piece mounted centrally in the mat
  13. Gently cover the mounted mats with soil along the edges to eliminate the slope. You can also seed grass here, depending on the desired visual effect. Such information should be obtained from the investor, whose construction should include a work order log.
  14. After completing these steps, water the safety surface to ensure proper turf establishment on the playground covered with a rubber mat.

Overgrowth mats for playgrounds – Maintaining high-quality POWER Rubber products

  1. Maintenance of the safety surface equipped with overgrowth mats
  2. Check the condition of the ground pins, especially at the edges
  3. Avoid filling the mat with any type of aggregate: sand, gravel, or stones, to maintain the correct HIC.
  4. Take special care during lawn maintenance so that the mower blade or other cutting tools remain above the mats.

Proper maintenance as a way to keep the playground with mats in good condition

Proper playground surface installation requires a solid foundation, such as ground leveling. It can be said that it is a small construction project – the construction of a playground – which can be entrusted to specialists in playground surfaces. Our playground mats are often required as part of public tenders. Announcements and procedures for overgrowth mats for playgrounds include construction work, design execution, and land leveling – all using rubber mats that allow rainfall to pass through to the ground.
