PN-64/M-73093 Standard
The PN-64/M-73093 standard defines the specifications for circular cross-section sealing rings used in static connections, primarily within hydraulic and pneumatic systems of industrial machinery and equipment. This standard is essential for selecting the correct O-ring sizes and ensuring compatibility across components.
What is an O-Ring?
An O-ring is a torus-shaped sealing element designed to prevent the leakage of fluids or gases. At Power Rubber, we manufacture high-quality O-rings from a range of premium rubber compounds. Their elastic properties make them ideal for both static and dynamic sealing applications. In static applications, there is no relative motion between the sealed components, whereas in dynamic systems, parts move against each other, requiring robust and flexible sealing.
O-rings with a circular cross-section are widely used in construction and agricultural machinery, drive systems, industrial gearboxes, and engines.
O-Ring Seals According to PN-64/M-73093
This manufacturing standard aims to reduce dimensional diversity in machinery and components by specifying standard O-ring sizes. It serves as a reference for selecting the right O-ring dimensions and creating uniform specifications.
O-rings made to ISO standards are highly effective in hydraulic actuators and pneumatic drives. They are commonly used for clamping-type sealing in static mechanical joints and help prevent both lubricant leakage and the ingress of contaminants such as dirt, dust, or moisture. The choice of rubber material for an O-ring depends on the specific working environment, including operating temperature, lubricant type, and system pressure.
Common Rubber Compounds Used for O-Rings
Nitrile Rubber (NBR)
Resistant to mineral oils and greases, vegetable and animal-based oils, aliphatic hydrocarbons, HSA and HSB type non-flammable hydraulic fluids, water up to +100°C, and diluted acids and alkalis up to +50°C.
Fluorocarbon Rubber (FKM/FPM)
Compatible with mineral oils and greases, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, synthetic oils, HSC and HSD type fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, and water up to +100°C.
Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber (EPDM)
Durable when in contact with brake fluids, acid and alkali solutions, HSC and HSD fire-resistant fluids, esters, ketones, hot water, and steam.
Silicone Rubber (VMQ)
Resistant to diluted salt solutions, mineral oils and greases, alcohols, and water up to +100°C.
Circular Cross-Section O-Rings to PN-64/M-73093 – Dimensions and Labelling
The PN-64/M-73093 standard specifies the dimensional labelling of O-rings. Each designation includes:
-
Type of construction (OR-1 – standard, OR-2 – bonded cord, OR-3 – vulcanised cord, OR-4 – seamless jacket, OR-5 – jacketed),
-
Inner diameter (Ød1) in millimetres,
-
Cord thickness (Ød2) in millimetres,
-
Material type (e.g. NBR, EPDM, FKM, VMQ),
-
Shore A hardness.
Example: OR-1 50x3 NBR 80
