PowerRubber offers a wide range of profiled rubber cords, suitable for many industries thanks to their diverse properties. Manufactured from NBR, FKM, silicone, or neoprene, in solid or microcellular versions, they are distinguished by precision and durability.

Characteristics of rubber sealing materials

Sealing cords are available in various thicknesses, are flexible, and are manufactured using a continuous vulcanisation process, which guarantees an identical profile along the entire length. Resistant to mechanical damage, they provide thermal insulation and protection against moisture. Popular materials include:

  • Solid EPDM
Resistant to ozone and chemicals (acids, alkalis, detergents); temperature range: –45 °C to +120 °C.

  • Foamed EPDM
Cross-section 2–100 mm, excellent compressibility; resistant to water, steam, solvents; temperature range –30 °C to +120 °C.

  • NBR (nitrile rubber)
Economical, abrasion-resistant, resistant to oils and fuels; temperature range –30 °C to +120 °C.

  • VMQ (silicone)
FDA certified, hardness ShA 40–80, resistant to UV and ozone; operating temperature –60 °C to +200 °C (short-term +230 °C).

  • FKM (fluoroelastomer)
Chemical resistance and gas tightness, non-flammable; temperature range –20 °C to +200 °C, ideal for vacuum applications.

Applications of rubber cords

Profiled rubber cords are used in:

  • onshore and offshore construction,

  • ports and quays as fenders,

  • hermetically sealed pressure vessels,

  • the automotive, electronics, and HVAC industries.
