SBR Rubber Granulate
Recycled rubber granules are produced from rubber products or reused waste materials (e.g. recycled car tyres, car mats, or gaskets). SBR granulate is derived specifically from the recycling of used car tyres.
High-Quality Rubber Recycling Process
During the recycling process, the waste rubber is thoroughly cleaned, sorted, ground at room temperature, and granulated into specific grain sizes (e.g. under 0.5 mm or 2.5 mm). The process removes fibres and dust, ensuring clean, high-quality rubber granules.
Rubber powder (grain size under 1 mm) is commonly added to bitumen mixtures used in road surfaces, roofing membranes, and construction insulation. SBR granulate is sold in kilogram-weighted bags (e.g. 30 kg, 60 kg, or 25 kg on request) or packed in 1-tonne bulk containers.
Advantages of SBR Rubber Granules
Depending on the rubber compound used, we distinguish between SBR, EPDM, or mixed granules. Let’s take a closer look at the key benefits of SBR granulate:
-
Water-resistant (does not absorb moisture)
-
Resistant to erosion
-
Crack-resistant under flexural stress
-
Flexible at low temperatures
-
Resistant to acids and alcohols
-
UV resistant
-
High thermal durability
-
Resistant to oxidation
-
Withstands both low and high temperatures
-
Strong and tear-resistant
Thanks to these properties, SBR rubber in granulated form offers a wide range of benefits, including:
-
Excellent sound insulation
-
Efficient thermal insulation
-
Shock-absorbing surface – protects against falls
-
Effective vibration damping
-
High abrasion resistance
-
Flexible and durable
-
Wide range of UV-resistant colours
-
Non-toxic and eco-friendly – disposal of used tyres is banned in the EU
Compared to EPDM granules, SBR granules are harder, offering superior wear resistance but lower weather resistance. Some manufacturers offer SBR granules with a hygienic PZH certificate confirming compliance with health and safety standards (including PAH limits).
SBR Granulate – Applications
To meet the evolving needs of our clients, we continuously seek innovation to supply top-quality shredded rubber. SBR granulate is widely used for:
-
Sports surfaces (running tracks, football pitches)
-
Recreational areas and playground flooring
-
Infill for artificial turf
Other practical applications include:
-
Base layer for playgrounds, equestrian arenas, running tracks
-
Shock-absorbing layer for sports fields
-
Garden paths and landscaping
-
Synthetic turf pitches and tennis courts
-
Artificial grass infill
-
Shoe soles
-
Industrial hoses
-
Building insulation – acoustic and vibration isolation, soundproofing systems
-
Horse riding arenas – reduces hoof impact and aids drainage
-
Decorative mulch for gardens, terraces, and walkways
-
Soundproofing materials
-
Asphalt aggregate
SBR rubber is also used as a slip-resistant flooring material, ideal for children’s playgrounds and sports venues.
SBR Rubber Granulate from Power Rubber
Power Rubber offers premium SBR granulate ideal for use in playgrounds, equestrian arenas, running tracks, gardens, sports facilities (e.g. gyms), and for filling sports equipment such as punching bags.
SBR granulate is a cost-effective alternative to EPDM, offering excellent shock absorption, reducing injury risks from falls, slips, and impacts in playgrounds, running tracks, pavements, and shopping centres. This recycled rubber material is highly durable, even under intensive use, ensuring long-lasting performance.
We supply thoroughly cleaned and shredded granulate with consistent chemical composition and high production standards.
