Silicones, as siloxane polymers, occur in the form of oils, resins, or elastomers. Elastomers are the most widely used in industry, as through the polymerization process they obtain valuable functional properties.

Elastomers – both natural and synthetic – are characterized by high elastic deformability and, after the removal of force, return to their original shape. Their chemical structure allows cross-linking, i.e. the formation of a three-dimensional molecular network, which significantly increases the durability and resistance of the material.

Advantages of Foamed Silicone

Foamed silicone can significantly change its dimensions under tensile, compressive, or shear forces and subsequently return to its original shape.

It is produced through a vulcanization process; it is flexible, water-resistant, and therefore resembles technical rubber. It is non-flammable, resistant to high temperatures and UV radiation, and exhibits electrical insulation and lubricating properties.

It is used in environments exposed to oils and greases, in construction as a sealing material, and for the production of silicone moulds.

Foamed Silicone – Applications Across Various Industries

Foamed silicone is also used in the cosmetics industry and in household products. Due to its hygienic and antibacterial properties, it is suitable for facial care accessories and dishwashing sponges.

Siloxanes are also used to create anti-adhesive coatings for automotive glass. Silicone perfectly adapts to surfaces, which is one of its major advantages.

Foamed Silicone – Products and Parameters

Foamed silicone is used for the extrusion of profiles, hoses, and silicone cords. It is characterized by temperature resistance up to 300°C, while solid silicone reaches a maximum of 260°C. Additionally, it provides acoustic insulation and is hydrophobic – it does not absorb water. Due to its closed-cell structure, it is resistant to chemicals, radiation, and weather conditions. Technical grades may be approved for contact with food and drinking water – for example, they may hold FDA certification.

Foamed Silicone – Dimensions

Due to its porosity, this silicone achieves a hardness of 20° ShA.
It is mainly produced in rolls and precisely cut to size.
Roll width: approx. 1000 mm, length: 10 metres, thicknesses: from 2 mm to 5 mm, and upon request up to 20 mm.

Individual production according to customer requirements is possible.
