PN-EN 1514-1 Standard. Dimensions of Flat Flange Seals
What Are Flat Seals?
Flat seals are widely used in the construction of machines and equipment, as well as in the chemical industry, food processing, and pharmaceutical applications. They are typically used in static sealing applications, ensuring a tight seal between two components, such as pipes and flanges. Flat seals prevent failures in systems by maintaining pressure, liquid, or gas, and are crucial in flanged joint sealing. They are cut from a variety of materials (synthetic rubber, elastomers, plastics), making them suitable for diverse work environments. Choosing the correct material ensures a reliable seal and trouble-free system operation. Available in various shapes and sizes, flat seals can be selected for specific applications.
Flat Seals for Flanged Connections According to PN EN 1514-1
The PN EN 1514-1 standard specifies the dimensions of flat seals for flanged connections and is commonly used in high-pressure systems, such as hydraulic devices. These seals are highly durable and resistant to high temperatures and pressure. They are ideal for systems where pressure control is essential.
The standard PN EN 1514-1 covers flanges and their connections and specifies the dimensions for seals marked with PN (1092-1, 1092-2, 1092-3, 1092-4) as well as pipes and fittings according to PN-EN 545, PN-EN 598, and PN-EN 969. It also details the types, dimensions, and markings for non-metallic flat seals with and without inserts, marked with PN up to PN 63, for nominal sizes from DN to DN 400.
