Static seals
Static rings are a type of sealing solution intended to prevent leakage of a medium between two components that remain stationary relative to each other. In static applications, there is no movement between the seal and the cooperating surfaces. O-rings and X-rings are the most popular static seals which, depending on the material they are made of, can be used under various operating conditions. They are characterized by high resistance to virtually all types of media. They are used both in environments with extreme temperatures or pressures and in applications involving aggressive chemicals.
Static seals are divided into:
- Flat static seals (washer-type and interlayer seals)
- Circular static seals (types: O, OX, OZ, OP)
- Lip-type static seals (types: U, VT)
- Static seals – gland type
- Static seals – sealing compound type
