Typical Silicone Profiles
Typical silicone profiles are sealing elements made of silicone rubber, characterized by high resistance to degradation resulting from long-term exposure to sunlight. They are widely used, among others, in the pharmaceutical industry, food industry, heating equipment, winemaking, heating devices, and electronics. Typical silicone seals for windows and doors provide reliable insulation, even in the case of large gaps. A silicone window seal is durable, protects against strong drafts, and prevents cold air from entering the interior.
This group of typical silicone profiles includes, among others:
- silicone profile Ø 2 mm
- silicone profile Ø 3 mm
- silicone profile Ø 4 mm
- silicone profile Ø 5 mm
- silicone profile Ø 6 mm
- silicone profile Ø 7 mm
- silicone profile Ø 8 mm
- silicone profile Ø 9 mm
- silicone profile Ø 10 mm
- silicone profile Ø 12 mm
- EURO 11 profile (so-called “house” profile)
Typical silicone profile – Properties
Typical profiles made of silicone are products that meet the highest quality standards, which allows them to be successfully used in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Biocompatibility
Typical silicone seals are characterized by biocompatibility (they are non-toxic and do not affect the immune system). They are most often intended for contact with food products.
Safety
Typical silicone profiles that meet the requirements in accordance with the legal regulations of a given industry (FDA-approved) may be approved for use in contact with food and drinking water. Moreover, silicone profiles are tasteless and odorless.
Resistance
A typical silicone seal is not damaged at temperatures ranging from -100°C to +300°C. It is characterized by high resistance to weather conditions and ozone. A typical silicone seal for windows and doors, thanks to its resistance to aging, ensures long service life. It is an excellent electrical insulator. In the pharmaceutical industry, in addition to biocompatibility, a typical silicone profile exhibits chemical resistance to cleaning and disinfecting agents. It can also be sterilized.
Other properties include:
- surface hydrophobicity
- surface anti-adhesive properties
- resistance to stress
- UV radiation resistance
- physiological inertness
- resistance to permanent deformation
