They are the ones that demonstrate resistance to the mentioned environmental factors. Sheets made of this rubber are the only ones that can be used outdoors on buildings, in cars and other places where they will be exposed to such conditions.
What gives weather-resistant rubber sheets their resistance?
EPDM rubber sheets are made of ethylene-propylene-diene rubber, which is produced in a sulfur or peroxide vulcanization process. This gives it resistance to many different factors. One of these properties that such rubber sheets possess is an exceptional ability to reverse deformation occurring under the influence of mechanical forces; however, it should be remembered that the aforementioned ability to reversibly deform occurs only if that deformation took place while maintaining the continuity of the material.
Advantages of EPDM rubber sheets
EPDM rubber sheets, in addition to resistance to weather conditions, exhibit many other very important advantages. They are not harmed by hot water and steam as well as by glycol-based brake fluids up to +150 degrees Celsius; the rubber sheets are also resistant to organic and inorganic acids as well as potassium or sodium alkalis and cleaners based on them; they show resistance to silicone-based oils and greases and to phosphate-ester-based hydraulic fluids. This rubber has low elasticity, but because of that it is abrasion-resistant. Furthermore, it does not discolor or stain other materials, and it also shows high resistance to thermal aging. It is worth mentioning the wide temperature range in which it can be used without problems, which is from as low as -40 degrees below zero up to around +100 degrees Celsius.
Weather-resistant rubber sheet - where not to use?
Despite the many positive features that ozone- and weather-resistant rubber sheets have, there are places where they should not be used. They lack resistance to products made on the basis of mineral oils, such as greases, oils and fuels - in this case an NBR rubber sheet will work decidedly better. They should also not be used in places where they could come into contact with aromatic, aliphatic, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Instead, it is better to use Viton rubber sheets.
Applications of EPDM rubber mat
A weather-resistant rubber mat is successfully used in many industries. It owes this to its resistance to the aforementioned properties. In the automotive industry it is very often used to produce seals for car windows and doors, rubber pads under various mechanical elements, many damping elements, as well as tires, inner tubes or bumpers. People responsible for building playgrounds also gladly use this type of rubber, because rubber with a thickness from 20 mm to 50 mm (although it can be obtained from 1 mm) provides a great, child-safe surface. It is also recommended for those who care about the watertightness of hydroisolation and the safety of their roofs and terraces.
Weather-resistant rubber sheets - technical specification
EPDM rubber sheets resistant to weather conditions have a number of other equally useful properties, especially considering their use outdoors. High-quality rubber sheets are also resistant to UV radiation and ozone, which is important because using such rubber sheets outdoors involves exposing them to these influences. A weather-resistant rubber sheet should also have an appropriate hardness on the Shore A scale. The available hardness of the sheets ranges from 40 Sh to 85 ShA.
EPDM rubber sheets vs other rubber sheets
It is no coincidence that EPDM rubber sheets are called sheets for special tasks - compared to them, other sheets made of rubber fare rather poorly. SBR and NBR rubber sheets are general-purpose sheets, with the latter characterized by increased resistance to oils and greases; however, none of them exhibit the range of properties that accompany EPDM sheets. Only EPDM sheets are resistant to weather conditions, ozone, UV radiation and acids. One must admit that this places them at the top among those mentioned. EPDM rubber sheets perform excellently in conditions in which SBR or NBR rubber sheets would degrade.

Standard roll dimensions are 1000 mm /1200 mm x 10 000 mm, and thickness ranges from 1 mm, through 20 mm up to 50 mm. Everything is agreed with the customer, and at their request we are able to cut any dimension using modern plotters.
