High-Pressure O-Rings
High-Pressure O-Rings
High-pressure O-rings are rubber sealing rings with a circular cross-section, designed for use in applications with extremely high pressure.
But which O-rings are suitable? Learn more in our guide below.
Types of High-Pressure O-Rings
High-pressure O-rings are available in various rubber compounds, including:
NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) – Excellent resistance to greases, oils, fuels and chemicals.
FKM / FPM / Viton® (fluoroelastomer) – High tolerance to mineral oils, silicone greases, animal and vegetable fats.
EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) – Resistant to chemicals, steam, solvents and acids.
Hardness and Pressure Resistance
A key factor in choosing O-rings for high-pressure use is hardness. Common specifications include:
-
90 NBR ShA
-
80 NBR ShA
-
90 FKM ShA
-
80 FKM ShA
-
90 FPM ShA
-
80 FPM ShA
-
90 EPDM ShA
-
80 EPDM ShA
High-Pressure Rotary Seals
We also offer rotary seals for rotating applications, commonly used with shafts and moving components in pumps, electric motors, industrial gearboxes, wind turbines or household appliances.
Example: rotary seal for high-pressure systems.
Applications of High-Pressure O-Rings
High-pressure O-rings come in a wide range of hardness levels, materials and sizes, allowing for versatile use across many sectors:
-
Technical industry
-
Automotive industry
-
Pharmaceutical industry
-
Refinery operations
-
Fuel and energy sectors
-
Heavy-duty vehicles
-
Excavators and cranes
-
High-pressure equipment (e.g. pressure washer hose and drum fittings)
