Road barrier

A concrete road barrier is a durable element of protective infrastructure used to separate traffic lanes, secure road work zones, and protect pedestrians. Made of sturdy concrete, resistant to impacts and weather conditions, it effectively minimizes the consequences of collisions and prevents vehicles from entering dangerous areas uncontrollably. Purpose:

The primary purpose of protective barriers is to ensure road traffic safety. They are used in places where a vehicle crossing beyond the road edge or lane divider poses a serious threat to road users' safety. Protective barriers are used on viaducts and embankments where there are permanent objects and obstacles close to the road (poles, buildings, etc.) with which a collision could be particularly dangerous.

A correctly designed, made, and installed road barrier should:

• Prevent a vehicle from crossing beyond the road edge or through the dividing line onto the oncoming traffic lane,
• Redirect a vehicle to a traffic lane that is parallel or close to parallel to the barrier, with the least possible risk to other vehicles. There should be no bounce-back or elastic rejection of the vehicle,
• Cause minimal damage to the vehicle during a collision, ideally limited to the bodywork elements only, without significantly hindering control over the direction and path of movement,
• Clearly and visibly define the outer edge of the roadway or road,
