Viton O-rings

Viton® O-rings belong to the FKM brand. They are made of a highly specialized material - synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer (FPM). Depending on the fluorine polymer content, Viton® seals have found applications in industries such as automotive, aerospace, chemical, energy, and petroleum. Viton O-rings are resistant to gasoline, fuels including oxygenated automotive fuels, greases, oils: gear, engine, mineral, and vegetable, water, and steam. They can be used with non-flammable hydraulic fluids (HFD), various hydrocarbons from aromatic to aliphatic, to chlorinated. They also exhibit high-temperature characteristics up to +210°C and are non-flammable. They have very good resistance to material aging due to atmospheric factors. An additional advantage is their low gas permeability, low swell in oil (oil resistance), and resistance to permanent deformation.

Viton® FKM FPM O-rings

FKM/FPM O-rings, also known as Viton® gaskets, allow for a reliable seal of both stationary and moving parts of a machine. They are used in hydraulic, pneumatic, static, and dynamic systems. They can be found in scuba diving equipment, pistons, and vacuum environments. The Viton® FKM FPM O-rings available in our store are known to be some of the strongest O-rings on the market. However, it is important to note that they should not be used in conjunction with polar solvent or low molecular weight substances, such as glycol-based brake fluids, ammonia, concentrated organic acids like acetic or formic acid.

FKM O-rings are Viton O-rings.

To create FKM material, among others used for manufacturing O-rings, the monomer utilized was vinylidene fluoride. Such application was first developed by DuPont (Viton®). The Viton® brand incorporates fluoroelastomers in its products, which are more expensive than elastomers made of neoprene rubber or nitrile. They are also marketed under the name Fluorel®. However, this solution provides products like O-rings and other seals with additional thermal and chemical resistance. Thanks to this change, FKM O-rings, also known as Viton® O-rings, exhibit good overall performance, meaning they are resistant to deformations, atmospheric conditions, friction, and have a longer lifespan. They have improved chemical resistance, meaning they can withstand many strong organic solvents and concentrated inorganic acids. The additional thermal resistance has made seals made of FKM material resistant to high temperatures and non-flammable. They are also resistant to bases and hydrogen sulfide. It is worth mentioning that according to widely accepted standards, FKM is considered equivalent to FPM. Seals made of this material have found applications wherever the highest quality, precision, and long-lasting performance are crucial. They have been used in industries such as aerospace, mining, and marine.

O-ring FPM

FPM o-rings are named after the material they are made of - fluororubber (FPM). Alternately, they are also referred to as FKM o-rings, Viton® o-rings, or fluororubber o-rings. Currently, seals made of fluororubber are highly sought after due to their excellent properties. These products are considered some of the best on the market, as evidenced by their use in highly demanding and responsible environments such as the chemical, automotive, and commercial industries. Fluorine rubber O-rings

The production process of fluorine o-rings is very similar to the production of seals made of FKM or FPM. The main production component in all cases is fluorine rubber. O-rings made from it are characterized by resistance to various types of oils, good gas insulation, which allows them to be used in vacuums, for example in the aviation industry. The advantages of fluorine o-rings have also been recognized by the mining, metallurgical, and other industrial sectors, where resistance to high temperatures and non-flammable materials is important. Other features by which fluorine o-rings, also known as Viton or Viton, can stand out in the market include high resistance to chemicals, greases, and fuels.

FPM sealing ring
