O-Ring made of Aflas TFE/P
Due to their properties, Aflas are best suited for the automotive industry and for the production of cables as curtain insulation. Other industries are also happy to use this type of oring, using them in difficult conditions where rubber components are needed. The material used in the production of Aflas orings is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene with a fluoride content of about 54%. In practice, such a mixture is resistant to: acids, oil, industrial solvents, steam, oils and lubricants, phosphate esters, amamine, petroleum fluids, brake fluids and corrosion inhibitors. Insensitivity to a wide range of chemical substances goes hand in hand with insensitivity to high and low temperatures (maximum range: from -14°C to +175°C).
Compared to other fluoroelastomers, the material from which aflas orings aremade is distinguished by better properties at low temperatures. An obstacle to the use of orings of this type can be their poor compression at elevated temperatures.
