EU Rubber - Polyether Polyurethane Rubber

Polyether polyurethane rubber is one of the group of polyurethanes. Unlike other elastomers, they are obtained through polyaddition. This is a chemical reaction in which there are no side effects. It is distinguished by gradual, not chain processes. For this reason, it is an irreversible reaction. Polyurethanes are obtained during polyaddition.

The processing of polyurethanes, such as polyether rubber, is done through thermoplastic molding or by casting mixtures that exhibit radioactivity. In this case, traditional processing methods are also known, which involve mixing the polymer with various fillers and crosslinking them.

Rubbers, such as polyether polyurethane rubber, are characterized by high strength and flexibility. Thanks to this, they can be classified as both elastomers, thermoplastics, and thermosets. Polyether polyurethane rubber stands out for its resistance to abrasion, oils, and ozone. They also exhibit mechanical damping. However, this rubber is less waterproof than AU rubber. Due to its wide range of applications, polyether polyurethane rubber is used in many industries. It is mainly used in high-pressure hydraulics and pneumatics.

The temperature range of polyether polyurethane rubber is from -30 degrees Celsius to +80 degrees Celsius. In some varieties, it can even reach up to +105 degrees Celsius.

Polyurethanes, such as polyether polyurethane rubber, are resistant to:

  • Water and non-flammable liquids
  • Oils and greases
  • Aliphatic hydrocarbons

However, they are not resistant to:

  • Amines
  • Alkalis and acids
  • Solvents and acetone
  • Hot water and steam
  • Mineral oils

What does the abbreviation Polyether Polyurethane Rubber (EU) mean?

The abbreviation EU comes from English and stands for polyether urethane rubber.

Polyether Polyurethane Rubber (EU) - Applications

Due to their wide range of properties, polyurethanes such as polyether polyurethane rubber find applications in many industries. They are mainly used for high-pressure applications in hydraulics and pneumatics.
