Protective floor mats - Applications

Reusable protective mat for floors

Protective mats are used to protect surfaces during finishing, renovation and construction work. The product is intended for use during plastering, spray application of plaster, painting, decorative work and other work related to construction, renovation and reconstruction.

The mat protects the surface against dirt, moisture and mechanical damage. It is waterproof and impermeable to liquids, therefore it can be used as surface protection during work where there is a risk of the floor coming into contact with moisture, paint or dirt.

Construction and properties of a protective mat

The mat is made of material originating from juice and milk cartons, combined with a PE coating on both sides. On the top side there is an anti-slip coating.

The product is characterized by:

  • water resistance,
  • impermeability to liquids,
  • impact resistance,
  • an anti-slip top surface,
  • reusability,
  • easy removal without leaving adhesive residue.

The mat's weight is 280–320 g/m².

Reusable protective mats

The mat can be reused for subsequent projects. After completing the work it should be cleaned, rolled up and stored in a dry place.

Before reusing, the condition of the material should be checked. If the mat is torn or shows signs of wear, it should be replaced.

How to properly lay a protective mat?

Before starting work the surface should be properly prepared. The substrate should be dry, clean and free of dust.

The mat should be unrolled from one side of the room. Subsequent strips should overlap by about 5 cm. Then the material should be secured thoroughly with tape.

After laying, check whether the mat is securely fastened and does not shift during use.

Before applying the product to the entire surface, check its suitability on a small, inconspicuous area of the substrate.

Can a mat be used with underfloor heating?

Before laying the mat, you must completely turn off the underfloor heating. Leaving the underfloor heating on while using the mat may lead to damage to the material.

On what surfaces can a protective floor mat be used?

The product is intended for use on hard and smooth floors, such as:

  • laminate,
  • PVC,
  • tiles,
  • floors made of plastic materials.

The mat should be used only on dry surfaces.

It should not be used on newly laid floors, surfaces of porous stone, natural stone, clay tiles, or on freshly poured concrete.

How long can a protective mat be used?

The maximum period of use of the mat is 3 months. During work, avoid using sharp tools and heavy equipment directly on the mat, as this may cause it to tear or be damaged.

Removal and storage of the mat

After the work is finished the mat should be carefully lifted, starting from the edge, and slowly removed from the protected surface. The product does not leave adhesive residue on the floor.

After use the mat should be cleaned of dust, dirt, or spilled substances. It can then be rolled up and stored in a dry place until the next use.

Unused rolls should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

After the end of its service life the material should be disposed of with mixed waste.

Does the protective mat protect the floor from water and paint?

Yes. The mat is waterproof and liquid-tight. It protects the protected surface from moisture, dirt and paint.

Is the protective mat suitable for multiple uses?

Yes. After finishing work the mat can be cleaned, rolled up and reused. Before the next use, check that it is not damaged or worn.

Does the mat leave adhesive residue on the floor?

No. The mat does not leave glue residue on the floor.
