FFKM Kalrez® seals

Kalrez® FFKM seals are sealing elements made of perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) produced by DuPont™. This material combines the flexibility of rubber with the chemical resistance of Teflon (PTFE), ensuring long-lasting sealing performance in extreme conditions. Kalrez® seals are used in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, vacuum, and process industries, where there is contact with aggressive media or high temperatures. They stand out for their minimal swell, low permanent deformation, and resistance to over 1800 chemical substances.

Kalrez® FFKM offers the widest range of chemical resistance among all elastomers, thanks to its fully fluorinated polymer chain structure. The material is resistant to organic and inorganic acids, amines, ketones, esters, fuels, oils, solvents, and oxidizing agents. Selected blends, such as Kalrez® 4079 and 6375, also provide high stability in contact with hot steam, water, and aggressive acids. The chemical resistance of Kalrez® seals makes them the preferred solution in applications where standard elastomers like FKM, EPDM, or NBR do not meet the process requirements.

The working range of FFKM Kalrez® seals typically ranges from –25°C to +327°C, depending on the type of compound and operating conditions. Special low-temperature versions can function even down to –40°C, maintaining flexibility and sealing at low pressure. At high temperatures, Kalrez® maintains chemical stability, low permanent deformation, and full sealing integrity even with prolonged exposure to aggressive media. This makes it a solution for environments where traditional fluoroelastomer FKM or silicone seals lose their properties.

Various types of Kalrez® have been developed for specific chemical environments and working conditions:

• Kalrez® 4079 - designed for use with strong acids, oxidizing agents, and solvents, resistant up to +316°C.

• Kalrez® 6375 / Spectrum™ 6375 - material with broad chemical resistance, including hot water, steam, and amines; operating temperature up to +327°C.

• Kalrez® 7075 - modern blend with increased mechanical resistance and low permanent deformation, suitable for dynamic applications.
  The selection of the appropriate type of Kalrez® depends on the type of medium, temperature, and cleanliness requirements of the process.
