Sealing rings for pistons – piston rod rings

Rings for piston seals come in many types and can be made of almost the same many types of materials. All this so that customers can choose the right type for themselves. What are the guide rings for the hydraulic rod seal?

  • lip piston rod ring
  • lip piston rod with a thrust ring
  • compact piston rod sealing ring
  • sealing ring tight to support ring
  • piston rod lip for pneumatics
  • self-sealing piston ring
  • compact, self-sealing piston ring
  • sealing piston ring tight
  • slip ring
  • Dome self-sealing rings
  • a lip piston rod with a second sealing lip
  • O-ring shorted
  • PTFE O-ring
  • t ring
  • O-ring

What can sealing rings for hydraulic pistons be made of?

Depending on the destination, the guide / sealing rings are made of various types of materials, which obviously differ in their properties and resistance to various types of conditions. Hydraulic seals must be designed to operate in conditions of higher temperature, humidity and exposure to various types of hydraulic fluids. Rings for hydraulic seals can be made of NBR rubber (Ecorubber), Viton / FPM / FKM (Ecorubber 2) rubber, EPDM rubber (Ecorubber 3), several types of Ecopur (H, T, G, plain), Ecosil (MVQ) and Ecoflon 1 or 2 (PTFE, otherwise commonly known as Teflon). What are the different types of materials for the sealing rings?

  • NBR rubber is a general purpose rubber with increased resistance to oils, greases and all kinds of hydraulic fluids, therefore it is highly valued and often used in the automotive industry
  • Viton / FPM / FKM rubber, colloquially called special-purpose rubber, is an elastomer based on fluoro rubber. It has many advantages, including resistance to very high temperatures, unfavorable weather conditions, including ozone and UV radiation, as well as aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
  • EPDM rubber, like NBR rubber, is a general purpose rubber, but with increased resistance to harmful weather conditions, including ozone, radiation and moisture, and with increased tolerance to higher temperatures
  • Ecopur is a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, which is characterized by very high abrasion resistance, additionally it is characterized by low permanent deformation under compression, high strength and high tear resistance
  • Ecopur H is also a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, but with increased resistance to hydrolysis products, i.e. to decomposition of substances under the influence of water, to which it is extremely (as for polyurethane) resistant, because it will not harm it up to +95 degrees Celsius
  • Ecopur T is also a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, but modified at low temperatures. It, in turn, combines the properties of an ordinary Ecopur, but has a significantly extended range of maximum operating temperatures. For this reason, guide seals made of it are ideal for cold stores
  • Ecopur G is, like the above, a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer with properties very similar to Ecopur H, including resistance to hydrolysis. Sealing rings made of it will perform well in devices of the hydraulic industry
  • Ecosil (MVQ) has excellent resistance to hot air, weather changes, ozone and aging processes, and is primarily used in O-rings
  • PTFE, a material that is often used for sealing rings, is famous primarily for its resistance to sticking of any dirt

Seals are very popular, but it is important to choose the material from which the sealing rings are to be made. Only then can you be sure that all seals will fulfill their role.
