3.1 and 3.2 approval

25.07.2025

Atest 3.1 and Atest 3.2 are documents of the same series, although they have slight differences. Check what distinguishes both certificates and what they have in common.

What is a Certificate of Acceptance 3.1?

Certificate of Conformity 3.1 is a statement by the manufacturer confirming that the products delivered to the customer comply with the requirements specified in the order. The document is issued together with the test results conducted during specific inspections. The testing method depends on official regulations, technical regulations, or is detailed in the product specification. The document may be signed by an authorized representative of the manufacturer's inspection department, who is independent of the entire production department. European standard 10204 allows test results from acceptance inspection of unprocessed or preliminarily processed batch materials to be attached to the certificate.

Certificate of Acceptance 3.2 and Inspector's Control

Certificate 3.2 is a statement that, in addition to confirming that the products comply with the customer's order, includes the test results from the inspection conducted by the customer's representative or an inspector from the Technical Inspection Office. These individuals are responsible for confirming that the entire production process of the ordered batch of goods, in which they are involved, complies with the requirements specified in the order. Certificate 3.2 is a control document that guarantees that the products delivered to the customer comply with the requirements specified in the order, and test results are attached to them.

Specific Quality Control

During specific quality control, guidelines specified in the product specification are strictly followed, adhering strictly to agreed delivery conditions or based on official and technical regulations. Inspection documents confirm that the delivered products comply with the agreements and delivery conditions provided by the customer when placing the order.

Certificate of Acceptance 3.1 and 3.2 according to EN 10204

Who is authorized to confirm the Certificate of Acceptance?

According to European standard 10204, certificate 3.1 can be issued by the manufacturer. The required documents are provided to the customer along with the test results. The manufacturer also confirms that the delivered products comply with the order. On the other hand, certificate 3.2 can be issued by an authorized representative of the manufacturer, who must not be in any way associated with the production department. According to EN 10204, certificate 3.2 can also be issued by an inspection control or the customer's representative.

Is copying documents allowed?

The authorized representative is required to provide the appropriate documents in the original or photocopy form. EN 10204 allows for copying of original documents when two conditions are met. The first condition is the use of an identifiability procedure related to the marking system of products to identify each product batch. The second condition is providing the original document upon request.

Is there a fee for issuing certificates?

A common question is whether there is a charge for issuing additional certifications. In short, yes, both documents are paid for. However, it is worth adding that declaration 3.2 is more expensive. This is because the quality control is conducted by an inspector, e.g., from UDT, an independent representative of the manufacturer, or the customer's control representative. One of these individuals is present throughout the entire production process. This is to ensure that the order is carried out in accordance with the customer's requirements. The intermediary (authorized representative) provides the complete set of documents (copy or original) to the customer. EN PN 10204 prohibits any changes in the document issued to the customer. Explanations regarding the procedures for identifying products must also be provided.
