They are made of flexible material with a circular cross-section. Thanks to their versatility and unique advantages, they fit into the needs of various industries – from the aerospace industry, through food, radio, microwave, pharmaceutical and telecommunications. PTFE orings are distinguished by their extremely low coefficient of friction, abrasion resistance, ozone and weather conditions, and almost complete chemical resistance. In addition, they are an electrical insulator and are also great for dynamic applications. They can withstand temperatures from -200 °C to +250 °C.
These features make the PTFE o-ring an extremely desirable product for a wide range of applications. It is an economical alternative to FFKM materials. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind: low compression and sensitivity to alkaline metals, sodium, potassium, hydrogen fluoride and fluorine gas exclude the possibility of using the product in some cases. However, with the huge advantages of the material, the number of defects is a marginal value.
