Feedback system
Information on the feed system is provided to the CNC control system by a feedback system. It provides information about the position and speed of the machine and informs the control system about the completion of the programmed task. The feedback system also determines the precision of the cutting head movement and takes various forms from an encoder attached to the motor, to a tape scale, to a glass scale.
