Certified gas gaskets – O-rings and flat

Certified gas gaskets are designed for tight connection between surfaces or joints. The gasket prevents gas leaks where two edges meet. The gas O-ring must meet safety standards regarding the type of material, its durability and design.

What material are gas O-rings made of?

Gas seals are made of vulcanized rubber materials such as: NBR, HNBR, FKM, VMQ (Silicone). A gas leak can lead to catastrophic consequences, therefore, during production, gaskets are tested, among others in terms of resistance to aging.

What are the properties of gas seals?

Gas is a flammable medium, therefore gas-certified flat gaskets must meet high safety standards. A gas leak can cause an explosion, fire, poisoning and downtime in many industries. The seals must be durable and wear-resistant.

O-rings, depending on the mixture they are made of, are resistant to acids and bases, chemicals, UV radiation, oxygen and water. These properties guarantee the durability of gas installations.

Seals made of FKM-based elastomers have excellent anti-corrosion properties, which significantly extends their service life. Seals made of FKM-based elastomers have excellent anti-corrosion properties, which significantly extends their service life. They provide an adequate seal between the regulator and the gas cylinder, preventing any potential leakage of this substance.

Rubber seals for gas installations

These gaskets are responsible for the tightness of the connections. The home gas installation uses:

  • high-methane gas
  • nitrogen-rich natural gas
  • high-methane natural gas
  • propane
  • propane butane

Natural gas

Natural gas is used in households with a gas installation. It is a fossil fuel that is extracted from the ground. This type of household energy is mainly used for:

  • heating
  • cooking with a stove or gas hob
  • baking using an oven
  • water heating
  • powering other gas-operated appliances

Taking care of your safety and the safety of your loved ones, it is worth installing a natural gas sensor,
which is designed to monitor the concentration of explosive gases in the room air.

Liquefied gas

If you live in an area that has no gas supply, you may consider installing an LPG tank. A liquid gas tank requires meeting several requirements, including: plot area, safe distance
from buildings or groundwater levels. Having a liquid gas tank allows you to heat, cook and power other gas appliances (e.g. hot water heater).

Propane-butane gas

Households also use propane-butane gas cylinders. Gas cylinders are the main power source for cooking appliances. They are perfect for areas with no access to gas installations (e.g. rural areas, allotment gardens). Propane-butane gas cylinders are used for:

  • heating with a gas heater
  • heating with a gas heater
  • gas grill
  • a heating umbrella

Gas cylinders require a regulator. There are gas cylinders on the market equipped with a reducer with a pressure gauge and a safety valve. The pressure gauges show the current gas level in the cylinder, while the safety valve cuts off the gas supply, among others. if the cable is damaged.

Gas seals are designed for:

  • gas cylinders
  • reducers
  • IGT touring reducers
  • gas fittings
  • gas burners
  • gas hoses (including gas hose seal in welding work)
  • gas socket in the caravan

The gaskets allow a tight and safe connection of the gas cylinder to the stove, oven and all gas devices, preventing uncontrolled gas leakage.

Carbon monoxide detector

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, colorless, poisonous gas. Carbon monoxide is a by-product of the combustion process (gas, petrol, wood) resulting from insufficient oxygen. The accumulation of carbon monoxide in the room is a threat to life and health.

Ensuring proper ventilation of rooms, regular ventilation, checking chimney patency reduces the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. An effective solution is to purchase a natural gas sensor.

How does a carbon monoxide sensor work?

The natural gas sensor has a built-in chemical or electrochemical sensor containing substances that react with the CO in the air. It is equipped with a loudspeaker that emits a sound signal. The carbon monoxide detector will trigger an alarm when it detects an increased concentration of carbon monoxide in the room. The alarm will stop when the carbon monoxide concentration in the room drops to a safe level

Overview of carbon monoxide (CO) sensors

Discover the ways in which a carbon monoxide detector works:

  • Carbon monoxide sensor biomimetric– uses a gel that changes color after absorbing carbon monoxide, activating a warning alarm;
  • Metal oxide semiconductors– a semiconductor, after detecting a “silent killer”, changes its current-conducting properties, which triggers an alarm in the carbon monoxide detector;
  • Electrochemical carbon monoxide detector– electrochemical cells emit a warning sound signal from the natural gas sensor after detecting an increased concentration of CO;

Carbon monoxide detector should be placed away from ventilation grilles, doors, windows. It should be installed on the wall in the room where the gas stove, fireplace, stove are used, at a distance of no more than 5 m.
